Georgian building-supply importers and project contractors need clear tile specifications before comparing Turkish ceramic and porcelain offers. Dimensions, surface finish, shade variation and delivery packaging can affect the job more than a small difference in quoted price.
Specify the tile for its intended location
Define indoor versus outdoor use, wall or floor installation, water absorption, thickness, preferred finish and any slip-resistance requirements. For natural stone, also specify the material grade, edge treatment, surface variation and acceptable repairs.
Ask for physical samples, product data sheets and the precise shade and calibre codes. If a project requires later top-up deliveries, clarify how the supplier identifies production batches and matching material.
Review packing and shipping together
Request square metres per carton, pallet configuration, crate or edge protection, gross weight and a clear statement of shipping terms. A damaged pallet may wipe out an attractive factory discount, especially on small orders.
Compare full-container and consolidated orders according to the exact volume and delivery address. Confirm responsibility for unloading and for recording short or damaged deliveries.
Confirm Georgia’s customs formalities
The Georgian Customs Code sets out customs declarations and supervision, while the Revenue Service provides procedures and electronic services. The importer or customs representative should review product classification, documents and the appropriate import procedure before goods move.
Use a detailed pro forma invoice listing each tile reference, quantity and origin together with an accurate packing list. Avoid using a generic description such as building material when several different products are in the shipment.
